Ball Handling
Ball handling is the bedrock of basketball skills, a fundamental component that separates exceptional players from the rest. It encompasses a player’s ability to:
- Manipulate the basketball with finesse,
- Ensuring precise control, dribbling, passing, and shooting.
Strong ball handling skills enable players to navigate the court effectively, evade defenders, and set up scoring opportunities.
In our basketball program, we understand the paramount importance of ball handling. Our dedicated coaches provide expert guidance to help players at all levels hone their dribbling techniques, improve passing accuracy, and develop the confidence to excel in high-pressure situations.
Form Shooting, Pull-Up, and Footwork
Form Shooting, Pull-Up, and Footwork are the trifecta of basketball skills that underpin a player’s success on the court. Form Shooting, the foundation of shooting accuracy, involves:
- Perfecting the mechanics of your shot
- Ensuring that it’s consistent, precise, and reliable, whether you’re in the paint or beyond the arc.
Pull-Up Shooting is the skill of scoring on the move, a crucial element for creating offense, especially for guards and versatile players who need to navigate tight defenses.
2 Lanes Fast Break Game Situation
The 2 Lanes Fast Break is a dynamic, high-pressure situation that requires impeccable communication, teamwork, and split-second decision-making, making it a crucial aspect of modern basketball that our training program is designed to help players excel in.
This scenario divides the court into two lanes, with players strategically positioned to maximize scoring options while fast-breaking. The primary objective is to exploit any gaps in the opposing defense, making quick decisions on when to pass, shoot, or drive to the basket.
Life Changing Stories
I utilized positive reinforcement techniques to motivate and reward Myles for his progress. By acknowledging his efforts and achievements, I encouraged him to stay engaged and committed to the training process.
Throughout our class, Daniel’s basketball skills have taken impressive strides. His shooting accuracy and consistency have significantly improved, making him a more reliable scorer.
He’s honed his ball-handling skills and gained a deeper understanding of court dynamics, evolving into a well-rounded player. Daniel’s decision-making on the court has become sharper, and his unwavering dedication and hard work have been instrumental in his remarkable growth as a basketball player.
This is my first time coaching special needs students who might have Down syndrome, autism or more. At first. I got nervous too and worry if I can handle the big class.
What I found out is this class is much easier than other class I taught. I am thankful to understand and chat with special needs students and parents how they interact with their kids. Unexpectedly, The kids actually help me to manage the class and fight for each other. They taught me to be patient, sympathetic and able to enjoy every moment.

Bump Fade
The “Bump Fade” is a basketball term that refers to a strategic and skillful maneuver employed by players to create space and get off a high-arching jump shot.
In this move, the player uses their body to ‘bump’ or make physical contact with the defender, creating separation, and then executes a ‘fadeaway’ shot, which involves moving backward while shooting to increase the difficulty for the defender to block the shot.
The bump fade is particularly effective when a player is closely guarded, and it requires precise timing, agility, and accuracy in both the physical contact and the shot release.
Players who master the bump fade become more versatile scorers and can navigate tight defensive situations with finesse, making it a valuable skill in their offensive repertoire.
Primus Chan
My journey begins with a challenging childhood marked by shyness, family issues, and bullying at school. The discovery of basketball becomes a lifeline, providing me with joy and the opportunity to build new friendships. However, my inability to overcome fear and inaction during my younger years leads to missed opportunities for high-level basketball.
A significant turning point occurs when I relocate to the USA and become a student manager for a school basketball team. Witnessing the intensity and dedication of the players, I embark on a rigorous year of training, even emulating Michael Jordan’s workouts. Despite my tireless efforts, a coach’s rejection during a tryout dashes my hopes of becoming a college player, teaching me the importance of unwavering determination in the pursuit of dreams.
Following a hiatus from playing, I rediscover my passion for the sport when I return to Hong Kong, transitioning into a coaching role. Managing a group of young players proves initially challenging but fosters resilience and effective communication skills. My journey exemplifies the power of determination, perseverance, and the transformative potential of turning past failures into a wellspring of motivation and personal growth.
